Update from the City of Ventura regarding the planned 4-mile Class I bike path from Montalvo (Metrolink stop) to Saticoy.

Santa Paula Branch Line Trail project is making progress!

The City of Ventura’s Santa Paula Branch Line Rails-to-Trails Project will deliver a 4-mile Class I trail providing a direct, separated route for residents of Saticoy, Montalvo, and Cabrillo Village to safely walk and bike.

The project will improve safety and mobility for non-motorized users, reduce vehicle miles traveled, support greenhouse gas reduction goals, and enhance public health through expanded active transportation options.

Due to a variety of factors, the project schedule has been updated. Current milestones include final design in Spring 2026, City Council authorization to bid in Summer 2026, and bidding in Fall 2026. Construction is anticipated to begin in Late 2026/Early 2027, with an estimated 18-month build period and trail opening in 2028.
