I get more and more confused on what apps and watches to buy.

Bought a cheapy on Amazon which got me started but my friend uses a Garmin he got for Christmas to  his paddling. He uses Strava with his Garmin and raves about it.

Is it necassary to spend this kind of money?

I can afford it.  I just dont want to waste money.

Any suggestions?
